Read the plot, fill out the character template, and when there's enough people, let the role playing begin! I want everyone to have their own unique ability, so sorry if someone's already chosen the one you want. We only need a maximum of two agents, and 5 rebels. We can have as many escapees as you want.
Plot: It's the year 3000. Approximately 500 years ago, humans began showing super human abilities after a nuclear war. The government, terrified at the possibilities, began locking up any humans who showed signs of being different. Some began going in hiding, some were outraged, and some were plain scared. A resistance formed, working hard to keep the government from apprehending the specials. In the year 3000, many of those who lived in the jail knew no other life. They weren't expecting a jailbreak by the resistance. The resistance is trying to help them adapt to a normal life after the jailbreak, but little do they know that they have government agents on their tail.

Name: Charles "CJ" Crowly Age: 20 Gender: Make Personality: Amazingly calm and collected. He is surprisingly resilient, and has pushed through some major obstacles in life without so much of a complaint. History: CJ grew up feeling like an outcast in a house with 2 brothers and a sister, and his single father. His mother had a firey temper, and had harbored a secret from the family for a long time, she had a special talent. One day, after being pushed around too much by a few Agents looking for more "gifted" individuals, she lashed out, striking one of the Agents while simultaneously catching them on fire. CJ's mother had an average body temperature of 110 degrees F, bright yellow eyes, and red hair, so it wasn't such a surprise when they discovered she could catch things on fire with a simple touch. The rest of the family all had brown hair and brown eyes, except for CJ. He was quite the opposite of his mother, in fact. Both in behavior and appearance. It was only a matter of time, he supposed, that his family would find out he too had a power. His family was too poor to afford any real luxuries, and support from the government was impossible considering one of their family was considered not only a sympathizer of the rebels, but a criminal herself. One day while his younger sister was home sick with a fever, CJ got a bowl of water, just as the first ice crystals started to form, his father stumbled upon CJ and his power, and immediately called the Agents, fearing another "gifted" member of the family would only make things harder. Appearance: 6'0", athletic build. Icy blue eyes, extremely light blond hair bordering on white. Pasty white skin, with a natural body temperature of 88 degrees F. Special Ability: Instantly freeze objects on contact. Role: Escapee

Ada sat in her holding cell with contempt. She had spent many days in this white, windowless box growing up. This time it was because she stood up to a guard who was having a little too much fun mocking Amabel. Amabel was too sweet to stand up to the guard, so Ada did it herself. She could tell the guards had very little patience left for her, but had never done anymore than put her in the same box every time. It barely had enough room for her to stand in, much less walk. As a child she used to have panic attacks as her claustrophobia settled in, but now this prison cell was just another room to her. They thought that keeping her in there would teach her a lesson, but they taught her nothing but to keep your head held high. She would not show weakness, she would not break down. This room was nothing for her kind. If not for the force field around the prison intercepting her abilities, she could unlock the door from the inside and walk out. Just as the thought crept through her mind, the lights went off. She heard shuffling outside, and the guard yelling to another. Ada pressed her ear against the door and heard the guy manning her door walk away in a hurry. A few seconds later, she could hear the siren.
There was only one other time in the past 17 years Ada could ever remember the siren coming on. She stared at her own hands for a second. Could it be, was it possible? Ada knew how to use her powers, or at least she thought so. Ever since she was little her grandparents forced her to do mental drills to power her mind. They told her it was how to center her focus and properly use her abilities. She thought they were a little deranged until she was 9. That day was like any other, until the sirens came on. Suddenly, she watched her elderly grandparents, whom she always saw as decrepit, rise up. The determination in their eyes terrified her. They looked at one another as if they were having a silent conversation. Ada, stand back. Her grandmother hadn't opened her mouth, but her voice rang loud and clear in Ada's mind. Little Ada did as she was told, and watched with wide eyes as her grandfather put his hand on the bookshelf to his side. Suddenly, legs and arms sprouted from it like a monster. It charged at the windows like a bull and broke through. Ada had no words as her grandmother took her hand and quickly dragged her through the shattered window. They ran through the courtyard toward the electric fence.
Ada remembered the confusion, the dozens of others who had charged out of the building with the same goal in mind. She screamed as she saw the guards coming. She didn't understand but she knew they were in trouble. Her grandparents kept pulling her, and she tried her best to keep up. Suddenly, one of the guards grabbed her grandfather, and he couldn't shake him loose. As her grandmother tried to help she was pushed to the ground, splitting open her head. Ada recalled the dread that hit her as if it was yesterday, she still woke up screaming some nights from the nightmares. In her alarm she had thrown the guard to the side easily, not understanding her own strength. Suddenly, another guard came at her with a baton. She threw her arms up in defense, which sent the guard flying back twenty feet. Ada didn't understand, she hadn't touched him. Her grandfather was yelling at her to keep running, to make it past the fence. She couldn't leave him, she ran back in attempts to save him- but it was too late. The siren went silent. The people in the courtyard froze. Ada remembered the emptiness. It wasn't just the adrenaline fading, it was the power draining from her veins. She would never forget that day, the first day she felt alive and the last day she saw either of her grandparents. ______________ "What now?"
"We wait," Hilary said grimly. "We've deactivated the force field, taken down the first line of offense. We can't go any deeper into the building in case they call for back up or we won't be able to get out. We wait for those brave enough to fight their way out. Those who aren't, can stay behind."
"Isn't that a little harsh?"
"This world is harsh. Survival of the fittest. Those who can't make it won't be of any help to us in the long run." _____________ Ada closed her eye, put her hand on the doorknob. She did as her grandmother used to instruct. She focused on something that was really important to her, used it's strength to propel her desires. A smirk graced her face as she heard the click of the lock. Her grandparents knew their time was coming to an end, they didn't try to escape for themselves. They tried their best to obtain Ada's freedom, they wanted the best for their little girl. She had failed them once. She wasn't strong enough to protect them, brave enough. This time, she wouldn't let it happen again. This time she wouldn't let their death be in vain. There was such chaos in the halls with the sirens buzzing that no one noticed one teen sneaking back to her dormitory. She walked in to see a large assembly of the teenagers and young adults of the prison in the common room. They all looked fairly concerned, confused. Ada realized she was the only one of the kids who had been here for the last siren.
"Here's the deal guys. The siren means we have power, we can do what we want. Now you can stay or you can fight. As for me, I'm getting the fuck out of here. Who's coming, Amabel?"

Finally, the time had come. Amabel had bided her time for so long. Many of the other prisoners would lash out at the guards, out of frustration or anger. Others even lashed out on her behalf. But, Amabel didn't bother. She had to constantly remind herself of something her mother once told her; "don't fight unless you know you will win." Even though her mother didn't really pay much attention to her, Amabel knew the woman was right. No one was going to see her put in to solitary confinement.
So when Ada asked her if she was ready to escape, she simply replied "I'm in. Any one else done being trampled on, or is it just me and Ada?"

CJ was kind of surprised at all the commotion, but as always, while everyone else was scrambling trying to figure out what was going on, he was carefully observing the situation, noticing the look of shock on the guards faces as they started dawning combat equipment. That's when CJ saw Ada and Amabel, both clearly calculating something, as if this moment was something to take advantage of. He could barely hear over all the commotion what Ada was saying, and probably only understood it from what he could read from her lips. It was now or never. It's time to get back out into the world and take back control of his life. CJ could feel his body temperature dropping as a surge of energy started to flow through him. He quickly walked over to Ada, his fingers tingling as he toyed with the return of his powers, freezing the water vapor from the cool, musty air around him.
"Let's get out of here. I've got better things to do with my life than waste away in this place," CJ said half-jokingly.

Lyra awoke as soon as the temperature dropped. Without power to the chamber she was normally kept in, the heat quickly escaped, and with heightened awareness, it was as if the air was suddenly turned on high for her. She had been here for the first siren going off, but at such a young age, and being separated from most of the others, Lyra had not known what it meant other than she could sense things much more clearly at the time. During the next meal time, she had asked around and found out that her thoughts were confirmed, it was a test of the prison's security, and another would soon take place.
Remembering where the handle was in the tiny, dark room, Lyra made her way to the door and took hold, waiting until the guards outside decided she was not coming out and ran to assist the others. She quickly turned the handle and ran behind the guards at a distance. When they reached the first intersecting hallway, the guards turned right in order to meet up with the rest of the security team, but Lyra ducked into the left hall and quickly into an air vent a few meters down the hall. She knew where she needed to head, always towards the wonderfully resistant mind of Ada Parelle, the most defiant person in this place. If anyone would have a plan to get out, it would be her. Now if only the hyperbolic chamber hadn't made her muscles so weak, maybe Lyra'd be able to get there quicker. She was scared she might be left behind, and quickened her pace.

Ada looked around the room of scared, beaten down kids. They had been brainwashed, half of them wouldn't know what to do with freedom even if they had it. Half of them wouldn't even make eye contact with her. She almost wanted to break out into a speech to convince them to rebel, to stand up for themselves. Yet she knew she didn't have the time, nor the means to save everyone in the room. She had to do what's best for herself. Her grandparents weren't here to protect her anymore, her parents long since dead. No one would look out for Ada if Ada didn't look out for Ada. The only other person she should care about is Amabel, and that was only because she had proved to be a loyal friend and a good companion. She was about to leave from the room, when CJ stood up and joined them. She could feel chills run down her spine as she felt the temperature drop severely around them. It was good that he was obviously had strong abilities and knew how to utilize them. Unlike Ada, CJ and Amabel weren't born here, hopefully they had learned all they needed to know about their powers outside these walls. As for her, she was going to go with the flow. If her powers kicked in, that was great. If not, she was going to die fighting for what she believed in.
"Alright, is that it? I guess I'll send the rest of you postcards from the outside," Ada smirked, as she gave the group a last goodbye wave. "As for you, Amabel, CJ, what exactly is it you can do and how good are you at it?"

There was lots of noise, shouting orders, screaming kids, stomping feet, if Lyra hadn't been able to block it all out, the sudden bombardment of sound would have been devastating to someone isolated as she had been for so long. But she was almost there, almost to the grate that would let her join up with Ada and the others, at least, as far as she could tell. The grate was covered with some sort of cloth, but it felt right and she could hear a large commotion coming from through the covering. So she shook the grate as hard as her small body would allow and it began to creak ever so slightly back and forth.
After a few moments, the grate was nearly out of its slot when the temperature dropped significantly. Lyra began shivering almost instantly, but she wouldn't let that stop her from getting to the other side of this wall, even if it meant her being mistaken and running into guards trying to capture her. And so she did, turning around and kicking at the grate as hard as she dared and it popped out and slid a few feet along the floor, causing a loud grinding sound. As she crawled out of the cramped space, she noticed three individuals staring worriedly towards the hole, appearing ready to attack, but their faces gradually relaxed as they saw that there was no threat.
"Hello. My name is Lyra," she said as she quickly glanced at the three gathered before her. "I assume you are Ada? If so, I believe we must leave quickly, if not, the guards will be here quite soon."
With that, Lyra began to walk quickly towards a nondescript door in the corner of the room with a red and white "Maintenance" sign on it.
