Well, my name's Philip, I attend VCU as a Computer Science major who's changing to Accounting next semester. I'm a first year but I'm also a junior, if you wanna know why, ask, but it's a pretty dry explanation. I pretty much love anything involving computers, books, or writing, as long as it's creative and not structured research. Music is one of my other passions, though I despise country and all that derives from it. I work at the Deli and at McDonald's when I go home. Most interesting thing is that I'm a furry, though I'd appreciate you not just googling it and believing everything you read, ask me for a far clearer version of what a furry is if you don't know. Thanks.

I am indeed Steven's friend. Haha, he's the one that led me here actually.
A furry is a person who shares an increased affinity for nature and animal life. Mostly, they associate with a specific species or two. For example, I usually use my fox fursona, but I also enjoy using an otter one. We also enjoy anthropomorphic art. Anthropomorphic is just a specialized form of personification where an animal or to a lesser extent, a plant, has human characteristics such as being bipedal, talking, and doing things they normally do, in a more human nature such as walking on feet instead of paws, having hands, and the way in which they have sex, etc. Some very common examples of furry art in order of increasing anthropomorphism would be Raja in Alladin understanding human speech, The Lion King, and the animated Disney version of Robin Hood which, if you haven't already seen, you should. It is an excellent rendition. A more current and specialized form of furries would be a Brony, which as you probably know is a male fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Also an excellent show by the way.

I've learned so much today. OH MY GOSH you're a Brony? hahah! One of my other guy friends loves that show and he tried to convince me into watching it but I haven't found the time. Everything I just read is so intriguing.

I was in Computer Science as well my Sophomore year and I'm in the school of business now. I went the Information Systems route instead of what I like to call 'dreadful accounting.' I had to withdraw from accounting this semester and I'm going to take it online at my community college back home. It...just doesn't come natural to me but good luck with that! (:

Haha, yes, I am a brony. It is indeed a wonderful show. And luckily it's all being released to YouTube for free Though they have season one on Netflix too if you want to see it through that. You should definitely watch it when you get the time. And yeah, accounting is pretty difficult, but I don't mind applied math, I just despise stuff such as Calculus and statistics where I have no need to use it. I'm just gonna get some certs in computer repair and programming so that I can still use everything I've learned from that. I'm just not a big fan of info sys, but whatever floats your boat.

What is it about the show that you like so much? Also, when did you realize you identified with the furries?

Well, I appreciate the animation quality, especially the jump from the older generations of ponies. Also, it has a very high quality story line in each episode that to some extent relates to each of the previous episodes. The characters are very well developed and Hasbro and Lauren Faust, the creator, both listen attentively to the community and include their ideas. One example of this is taking a background pony, Ditzy Doo, and changing her name to Derpy Hooves after many viewers noted the way her eyes look and her confused nature such as going west to retrieve the southern birds in one episode. And then they went as far as to give her dialogue and multiple parts incorporating her with the Mane 6 characters.
But enough about that, I recognized my furriness when I was eleven I'd say. I realized just how fascinated I was with furry animation and I preferred it and literature featuring animal or anthropomorphic characters much more so than other, more lifelike art and characters. Given, at the time I didn't realize what it was called, or that there was an entire fandom with conventions and everything just like me, but just that it was different from the norm since none of my friends at the time felt the same way, or at least were not as vocal about it. My love only grew as I did and it pretty much is who I am now. I don't let it take over my life and I realize it's not everybody's cup of tea, like I don't really talk about it with my girlfriend who is tolerant, but is not as into it as I, but I still enjoy the fandom quite a bit.

Hmm, I'm really intrigued. I will definitely watch at least the first few episodes and I'll be sure to post on the forum what I think of them. We can have discussions (:
Also, I just made a shapeshifter role play. Dragons are not as "furry" as let's say a fox or an otter, but you should still check it out!
